Group Opener: 

 

What would a perfect day involve for you?

 

Group Questions:

 

  1. Why do you think we struggle with forgiveness?

 

  1. Do you find it hard to confess your sin to God?  Why?

 

  1. Read 1 John 1:8-9. What does God do for us when we confess our sins to Him?

 

  1. Read Matthew 18:23-35. It’s easy to cast our judgment on this guy, but how often have we been the ones unwilling to forgive? Why do you think forgiveness is a big deal to God?

 

  1. The Greek word for forgiveness means to release from an obligation. Why is this hard for us to do? 

 

  1. What do people think they will accomplish by holding onto this unforgiveness?

 

  1. What has God been personally teaching you about forgiveness?

 

 

Prayer Time:

 

What are some specific ways we can be praying for each other?  Take a few minutes to share your prayer requests with each other.

 

As we spend some time in prayer, let’s also ask God to help us be willing to come to him and confess our sins and then make things right with the people we may have wronged.

 

Notes for your prayer time:

 

There is nothing wrong with praying for each other’s requests and you can continue to do so.  It is easy however to pray for all kinds of things that aren’t related to applying God’s truth to our lives.
