Small Group Questions - Weekend of June 14

Group Opener:

School is now out! As a kid, how did you celebrate the end of a school year? How do you like to celebrate things now?

Group Questions:

  1. Have someone read Matthew 24: 36-46.  What does this passage cause you to think about?

  1. As servants of God, what would it mean for us to “be found doing what God has asked us to do?”  (vs. 45-46)

  1. If we have asked God to become our Lord and Savior then we need to submit our lives to his leading.  Why do we tend to want a savior and not a Lord in our lives?

  1. Read Luke 6:46-49.  What are some of the things God has already asked us to do according to what’s in His Word?

  1. One thing that can keep us from allowing God to be the Lord of our lives is a divided heart.  What are some of the passions we can have in life that will distract us from being totally God’s?

  1. I believe that our only chance of making God Lord is through the power and guidance the Holy Spirit can give us.  As you spend time in prayer have someone read Romans 8:5-9.  Ask the Holy Spirit to show you where you need to give him control.

Prayer Time:

What are some specific ways we can be praying for each other?  Take a few minutes to share your prayer requests with each other.

Notes for your prayer time:

There is nothing wrong with praying for each other’s requests and you can continue to do so.  It is easy however to pray for all kinds of things that aren’t related to applying God’s truth to our lives.

My desire is to make sure we have some of our prayers focused around the life-change God desires to take place in each of us.  Scott Nieveen

Thanks for the role you play in providing a place for people to experience community while pursuing God!
