Small Group Questions - Weekend of May 31

Group Opener:

What were some of your fears as a child? How did your parents encourage you to deal with them? Was their advice helpful or not?

Group Questions:

  1. What are some of the portrayals of Armageddon in the media today? Do you think they are biblically accurate?

  1. How do people feel about the upcoming battle? Why do you think they feel that way?

  1. Read 2 Corinthians 10:3-6. What kind of battle is Paul describing here? What kinds of weapons are we to use?

  1. Read Ephesians 6:10-18. Though most of us are familiar with this passage, we don’t always take the time to consider what it looks like practically. So discuss it as a group. What do these different pieces look like in everyday life?

  1. What gets in our way to fighting effectively through this “everyday armor”? How can we try to prevent that?

  1. Paul encourages us to pray “at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication” (Ephesians 6:18). Spend some time praying together: for protection from evil, for strength to stand firm, for grace to persevere in the midst of difficult times.

Prayer Time:

What are some specific ways we can be praying for each other?  Take a few minutes to share your prayer requests with each other.

As we spend some time in prayer, let’s also ask God to help us understand what it means to completely trust him and put our hope in his truths.

Notes for your prayer time:

There is nothing wrong with praying for each other’s requests and you can continue to do so.  It is easy however to pray for all kinds of things that aren’t related to applying God’s truth to our lives.

My desire is to make sure we have some of our prayers focused around the life-change God desires to take place in each of us.  Scott Nieveen

Thanks for the role you play in providing a place for people to experience community while pursuing God!
