Small Group Questions - Weekend of May 10

Group Opener:

What is the goofiest gift you ever gave to your mom?

Group Questions:

  1. What are some of the things you learned from your mom? Any special stories you can share with your group?

  1. Mothers aren’t the only women who influence our lives. Many times older sisters, aunts, and “adopted” moms can fill in or help supplement what our mom teaches us. Who was in that kind of a role for you?

  1. Read Deuteronomy 6:4-9. What does this passage teach us about parenthood? What are some of the responsibilities?

  1. How are the roles of mother and father different? What does our culture teach about the role of a mother versus the role of a father? What does the Bible say about it?

  1. If you are a mother (or father J), share some words of wisdom with others in your group so they can learn from you. This will help not only those who are already parents, but those who aspire to be.

  1. (If applicable in your group) How can those who are not parents yet prepare to be parents? What activities can they be involved in? What is important for them to grow spiritually?

  1. Pray for those in your group – that God would continue to guide and come alongside the parents in the group, and that God would continue to prepare those who are not parents yet.

Prayer Time:

What are some specific ways we can be praying for each other?  Take a few minutes to share your prayer requests with each other.

As we spend some time in prayer, let’s also ask God to help us understand what it means to completely trust him and put our hope in his truths.

Notes for your prayer time:

There is nothing wrong with praying for each other’s requests and you can continue to do so.  It is easy however to pray for all kinds of things that aren’t related to applying God’s truth to our lives.

My desire is to make sure we have some of our prayers focused around the life-change God desires to take place in each of us.  Scott Nieveen

Thanks for the role you play in providing a place for people to experience community while pursuing God!
