Small Group Questions - Weekend of May 3

Group Opener:

Where was your favorite place to go as a kid?

Group Questions:

  1. What is the general attitude toward foreigners in our country? Or people of different religious backgrounds?

  1. Read Hosea 11:1-11. Identify the emotions you hear in this passage as Hosea describes God’s love for Israel in the midst of their sin.

  1. Read Matthew 5:43-48. How does God treat those who are good versus those who are evil? The just and the unjust?

  1. How are we called to respond to that passage in Matthew? What does God command us to do? What challenges get in the way?

  1. Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a. Though this passage is written in the context of spiritual gifts and serving in the church, what does it teach us about loving those outside the faith?

  1. Discuss some specific ways you as a small group can reach out to others this week, specifically those of different faiths. How can you show them God’s love?

Prayer Time:

What are some specific ways we can be praying for each other?  Take a few minutes to share your prayer requests with each other.

As we spend some time in prayer, let’s also ask God to help us understand what it means to completely trust him and put our hope in his truths.

Notes for your prayer time:

There is nothing wrong with praying for each other’s requests and you can continue to do so.  It is easy however to pray for all kinds of things that aren’t related to applying God’s truth to our lives.

My desire is to make sure we have some of our prayers focused around the life-change God desires to take place in each of us.  Scott Nieveen

Thanks for the role you play in providing a place for people to experience community while pursuing God!
