Small Group Questions - Weekend of April 5
|
|
Group Opener:
Share something funny that has happened to you or
you have experienced.
Group Questions:
- We’re going to
discuss how at times we feel distance in our relationship with God. Think for a moment about your human
relationships. What are some things
that can put space in your relationship with someone else?
- All throughout the
Bible God asks people to humble themselves and that he will draw near to
them if they will do this. Read
James 4:6-10. Why is humility a key
trait in order to move closer to God?
- Another key truth is
that our sin puts distance in our walk with God. Read 1 John 1:5-9. What role should confession play in our
lives?
- On a scale of 1 to
10 – 1 being far, far away and 10 being really close, where would you put
your walk with God right now? Why?
- Sometimes God’s
quietness is more about what he is doing in our lives. He wants to see if we will be faithful
in doing what he has already show us or told us in His Word. Read Matthew 25:14-25. Reread verse 23 – Do you struggle with
looking ahead and seeking out what God has for you down the road instead
of focusing on what he has for you right now? Why?
- What have you
learned through times of silence or distance in your walk with God?
Prayer Time:
What are some specific ways we can be praying for
each other? Take a few minutes to share
your prayer requests with each other.
As we spend some time in prayer, let’s also pray
the truth found in Hebrews 10:21-23 (read these verses).
Notes for your prayer time:
There is nothing wrong with praying for each
other’s requests and you can continue to do so.
It is easy however to pray for all kinds of things that aren’t related
to applying God’s truth to our lives.
My desire is to make sure we have some of our
prayers focused around the life-change God desires to take place in each of
us. –Scott Nieveen
Thanks for the role you play in providing a place for people to
experience community while pursuing God!
