Small Group Questions - Weekend of March 15
|
|
Group
Opener:
What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever heard a kid
say?
Group Questions:
- Someone
once said, “When we walk to the edge of all the light we have and take
that step into the darkness of the unknown, we must believe that one of
two things will happen: There will be something solid for us to stand on,
or we will be taught how to fly.” Can you relate to that statement?
- Read
Romans 1:16-17. According to a study note in my Bible, “faith” in this
context refers to a steadfast reliance on God, a trust that perseveres.
(See also Habakkuk 2:4, where this quote comes from.) What might such
persevering trust look like today, in our culture?
- What
are some of the things that challenge your faith the most?
- Read Philippians
3:8-11. Paul counts everything else as “loss”, or as some translations put
it, as “dung” or “garbage”, compared to… what?
- Who is
the object of our faith? How does Paul identify with Christ?
- Part of
growing our faith means spending time with Jesus and getting to know Him
better. Discuss different ways you can do that this week. Be specific.
Prayer Time:
What are some specific ways we can
be praying for each other? Take a few
minutes to share your prayer requests with each other.
As we spend some time in prayer,
let’s also ask God to help keep our focus on him and not look to the world to
solve our issues in life.
Notes for your prayer time:
There is nothing wrong with praying
for each other’s requests and you can continue to do so. It is easy however to pray for all kinds of
things that aren’t related to applying God’s truth to our lives.
My desire is to make sure we have
some of our prayers focused around the life-change God desires to take place in
each of us. –Scott Nieveen
Thanks for the role you play in providing a place
for people to experience community while pursuing God!
