Small Group Questions - Weekend of February 15

Group Opener:

Describe a memorable moment from your junior high school days.

Group Questions:

  1. Share something from this week’s message that really caught your attention.

  1. Why do you think Jesus uses this metaphor to describe Himself (that He is the Light of the world)?

  1. Read 2 Samuel 22:29. What are some ways God “lightens” our darkness?

  1. Read Psalm 119:105. Jesus often uses His Word to be a “light” for us. How?

  1. What does it mean, on a practical level, that Jesus is the Light? How are we to respond to this?

  1. As you pray, praise God for the many different ways He manifests Himself as the Light – exposing the truth, guiding us down the right path, etc.

Prayer Time:

What are some specific ways we can be praying for each other?  Take a few minutes to share your prayer requests with each other.

As we spend some time in prayer, let’s also ask God to help us strive to live our lives for God and not for what we can gain in this world.

Notes for your prayer time:

There is nothing wrong with praying for each other’s requests and you can continue to do so.  It is easy however to pray for all kinds of things that aren’t related to applying God’s truth to our lives.

My desire is to make sure we have some of our prayers focused around the life-change God desires to take place in each of us.  Scott Nieveen

Thanks for the role you play in providing a place for people to experience community while pursuing God!
