Small Group Questions - Weekend of December 13

Group Opener:

How have you been giving this Christmas away? How have you seen others giving this Christmas away?

Group Questions:

  1. Do you ever find yourself being jealous of what someone else has? Their spiritual gifts? Their possessions? Their position in life? How does that affect your service and giving?

  1. Under what circumstances are you likely to grow tired of serving or giving? When have you just “had enough”? When is it overwhelming?

  1. Read Galatians 5:25-26 and 6:7-10. What is Paul’s warning in these verses? What is his encouragement?

  1. How do you know if you are living by the flesh or by the Spirit? (See Galatians 5:16-24.)

  1. Reread Galatians 6:10. What does Paul challenge us to do? Have you ever let such an opportunity pass you by? (Ask if anyone is willing to share an example.)

  1. Who in your life can be an example to you in this kind of generosity? Who is someone who takes advantage of opportunities to do good to everyone, both those inside and outside the church?

  1. How can you – individually and as a group – “sow to the Spirit”? What does that mean? What does that look like? Be specific.

Prayer Time:

What are some specific ways we can be praying for each other? Take a few minutes to share your prayer requests with each other.

As you spend some time in prayer, consider how you as a small group can reach out this holiday season and “give it all away.” You can refer to the blog for current serving and giving opportunities in our community. The link is on our website at wccconnect.com.

Notes for your prayer time:

There is nothing wrong with praying for each other’s requests and you can continue to do so.  It is easy however to pray for all kinds of things that aren’t related to applying God’s truth to our lives.

My desire is to make sure we have some of our prayers focused around the life-change God desires to take place in each of us.  Scott Nieveen

Thanks for the role you play in providing a place for people to experience community while pursuing God!
