Small Group Questions - Weekend of October 11

Group Opener:

Who was your favorite teacher? What made him/her stand out?

Group Questions:

  1. As we near the end of the series, what are some truths about forgiveness that have stood out to you?

  1. What idea about forgiveness seems to be the hardest to grasp?

  1. Corrie ten Boom, survivor of the Holocaust, wrote, “[God] did a miracle in taking away all my hatred and bitterness for my enemies. Jesus is willing to bring into our hearts God’s love through His Holy Spirit.” What can we learn from her about forgiveness?

  1. Read Romans 12:17-21. What are we commanded to do? How are we supposed to respond to evil?

  1. Practically speaking, what does that look like? How do we “feed our enemies”?

  1. Read Romans 13:1-10. What role are authorities (governments) supposed to play in seeking justice?

  1. How does this affect how we respond to sin against us? What gets in the way of our responding that way?

  1. How can we continue studying God’s design for forgiveness and what it looks like in our lives?

Prayer Time:

What are some specific ways we can be praying for each other?  Take a few minutes to share your prayer requests with each other.

As we spend some time in prayer, let’s also ask God to help us see our deep need to regularly repent and be forgiven.

Notes for your prayer time:

There is nothing wrong with praying for each other’s requests and you can continue to do so.  It is easy however to pray for all kinds of things that aren’t related to applying God’s truth to our lives.

My desire is to make sure we have some of our prayers focused around the life-change God desires to take place in each of us.  Scott Nieveen

Thanks for the role you play in providing a place for people to experience community while pursuing God!
