Small Group Questions - Weekend of October 4

Group Opener:

Do you enjoy fall?  Why or why not?

Group Questions:

  1. Are you ever surprised by your unwillingness to forgive?  Why or why not?

  1. Why do we sometimes not see our need to be forgiven?

  1. What can be the potential danger in not seeing our need for ongoing forgiveness from God?

  1. Read Psalm 139:23-24.  Why would this prayer of David’s be a good prayer for us to say on a regular basis?

  1. Have you ever found yourself asking for forgiveness with no real intent of changing?

  1. Why do you think we do this?

  1. Read Romans 8:5-9.  What is your mind set on?  What role can repentance play in allowing our lives to be controlled by God’s Holy Spirit?

  1. Read 1 Peter 1:13-16.  How can we have parts of our lives conformed into the world’s values instead of God’s?

  1. How can we guard against this happening?

Prayer Time:

What are some specific ways we can be praying for each other?  Take a few minutes to share your prayer requests with each other.

As we spend some time in prayer, let’s also ask God to help us see our deep need to regularly repent and be forgiven.

Notes for your prayer time:

There is nothing wrong with praying for each other’s requests and you can continue to do so.  It is easy however to pray for all kinds of things that aren’t related to applying God’s truth to our lives.

My desire is to make sure we have some of our prayers focused around the life-change God desires to take place in each of us.  Scott Nieveen

Thanks for the role you play in providing a place for people to experience community while pursuing God!
