Small Group Questions - Weekend of September 20

Group Opener:

How has the ministry of WCC impacted your life?

Group Questions:

  1. Are you ever surprised by your unwillingness to forgive?  Why or why not?

  1. Read Ephesians 5:2.  How are we told to live our lives in this passage?

  1. Can we do this on our own?  How does God fit into this?

  1. Read Luke 6:27.  Why would we want to do these things?  (see 2 Corinthians 5:14)

  1. Why do you think we don’t typically think to involve God in the process of forgiveness?

  1. Read Ephesians 4:30-32.  How do these bad traits relate to unforgiveness?

  1. How might our relationships with people be different if God’s love and compassion were to replace these negative attitudes?

  1. Do you think this would impact how our non-believing friends would see us?  How so?

Prayer Time:

What are some specific ways we can be praying for each other?  Take a few minutes to share your prayer requests with each other.

As we spend some time in prayer, let’s also ask God to help us remember that we are incapable to forgive and love people the way God commands us in His word.  Ask the Holy Spirit to soften our hearts and give us what we need to pursue the path of forgiveness.

Notes for your prayer time:

There is nothing wrong with praying for each other’s requests and you can continue to do so.  It is easy however to pray for all kinds of things that aren’t related to applying God’s truth to our lives.

My desire is to make sure we have some of our prayers focused around the life-change God desires to take place in each of us.  Scott Nieveen

Thanks for the role you play in providing a place for people to experience community while pursuing God!
