Camp With An Impact FAQs

How many students go and who are they?

Since the camp is a United Methodist Camp there will be students from all over the northern half of the state. As a church we have committed one hundred students to that week of camp. The total capacity for the camp is around 155.

What do we do at CWAI?
Camp Adventure is in the woods and is considered a camp, so we are going to be doing the typical camp activities, such as canoeing, archery, campfires, and sleeping in cabins. We also plan to have some great worship, awesome teaching, an Olympics size swimming pool, a high and low ropes course and lots of fun.

Who is in charge of CWAI?
Evan Overman, Abe Hepler, Matt Goebel, and Brandon Schmitt are the program directors. They are in charge of the programming side of the camp, which includes, worship, teaching, curriculum, cabin assignments, and the basic flow of the camp. CWAI staff is in charge of meals, facilities, and running the activities such as swimming and high ropes.

What about scholarships or assistance with cost?
We have scholarships available through WCC. You can download a Scholarship request form from the following link:

Who is supervising the students?
Safety is number one concern of the CWAI staff. They oversee all activities and are well trained to keep your student safe.

Upon arriving at registration on Sunday, your students will be assigned a same gender cabin. A same gender counselor supervises each cabin. Your student will spend the majority of their time with that counselor. They will go to worship together, do activities together, and sleep in the same cabin. Your student will spend 23 hours a day with that counselor. (The extra hour is a break time for the counselors in which the students are with the directors)

Who are the counselors and where do they come from?

Counselors are hand picked by the program directors. The counselors come from all walks of life from, grandparents to seniors in high school. The counselors are carefully screened against 1 Timothy 3:1-7. Each counselor will have gone through the curriculum before the camp and will have been through a training process for that week of camp.

How are the counselors and students organized?
Each counselor has a different gender co-counselor. This pair we call a "home in the woods group." This group will spend most the time together and will do everything together except sleep in the same cabin.

Money?
There will be nothing for sale during the week. Please don’t send your students with money. It only causes problems.T-Shirts, DVD’s and other items will be for sale during registration and pick-up.

Can I be in communication with my student while they are at CWAI?

As a parent you have the ability to write emails and letters to your student while they are there. As a camper, your student can write you letters which will be mailed from camp. To increase the chance of getting mail from your student while they are at camp, we suggest that you send self-addressed, stamped envelopes with your students.

Emails can be sent to Adventure@impact2818.com with your child's name in the subject field, along with the camp code W408. Matt occasionally reads the emails out-loud so be careful about content.

Unless it is an emergency we don’t allow phone calls or visits. Phone calls and visits can trigger or increase homesickness not only with your student, but also with the students at the camp.
